We need to accept people no matter what ethnicity they belong to because we all live in the same planet. We don't know when we are need to interact with African American people and we can't discriminate them because their skin color. People also need to know and be concious that this education came from house when we are little kids and we can't discriminate some one because of their skin color, sexual orientation, gender, age and so on.
ReplyDeleteI agrre with your comment, driscriminating someone for their skin color, age, gender or sexual orientation is an important knowledge that has to be learn at home.
DeleteI agree with your point of view, because for solution this trouble we need to start teaching the kids that all people are the same.
DeleteI agree with your opinion, I think that generalize a group for their race is really prejudiced.
DeleteI agree with you because the first solution to end racism is to teach children that differences doesn't exist and that we are all the same people.
DeleteI agree with your opinion, I think that education is the way. I think that education is the solution of a lot of problems of the country.
DeleteThe big trouble about racism against Afrocolombianos is that most of the people that grow in Colombia, learn how bad can be racism. But even knowing this we don't make any effort (the majority) for help Afrocolombianos to gain more benefits, instead we see this as a normal fact of our lives. And we never know when Afrocolombianos or any person who has being discrinated for some reason can gives ous help in a problem.
ReplyDeleteSadly, that is the reality of the country. We only use our voice but not our actions, and we need to use those two if we want a change in the country. But, we are so confortbale with the real situation that we don't want to do anything. And it is sad to see that Afro-Colombians are the one who suffer with this.
DeleteI’m agree because it’s an interesting point of view, you actually exposed the really about our country, we naturally are comfortable with this situation so we don't want to do anything
DeleteRacism has continued to disadvantage the Afro-Colombian population, as evidenced by economic disparities, a large educational performance gap, and under-representation in politics. Factors like these are growing up all the time, and nobody do something to fix this trouble. Also we need to consider that one of the biggest things about racism is reverse racism, is when a culture uses something that would be considered racist coming from another culture to benefit them. So if we want to end this racism, everybody have to be part of the solution.
ReplyDeleteI put my attention when you says "So if we want to end this racism, everybody have to be part of the solution". I think that we can not be indifferent with racism. That the problem doesn't directly affect us it doesn't mean we can not help people who are suffering by racism. So, we have to be part of the solution, not the problem.
DeleteColombians of African descent, commonly referred to as “Afro-Colombians” are among the poorest and the most marginalized groups in Colombia. Most Afro-Colombians reside in rural areas on the country’s Pacific Coast, but many have also fled to poor neighborhoods in the country’s large cities as a result of the country’s ongoing armed conflict. The coast, have a high percentage of Afro-Colombians, and the racism against this group is evident. Is really sad that people do not have the same opportunities just for their skin color, many people discriminate Afro-Colombians for jobs , scholarships , activities or any chance. Colombia have a special system to guaranty university access to AFRO-LATINOS (Afro-Colombians) students, and in my opinion this is just a form of racism. In Colombia, particularly in the coast Afros are a minority community, that feels marginalised, in our country exists a stereotype of black people, that they are thieves, drug addicts and bad people. I think that generalize a group for their race is really terrible for the develop of our country.
ReplyDeleteIs really outrageous know that in our times the rate of Afro-Colombians discrimination is still high, the problems of this population is characterized by the exploitation of their labor, the educational backwardness, unemployment, racial exclusion, illiteracy, among other characteristics as we saw in the video. In my point of view, this is due to lack of political against racial discrimination and lack of awareness on the equality right to without distinction of race. Also, from children, adults should teach their children that skin color is no more than a physical characteristic and that we are all equal. So, skin color shouldn't stereotype people to be something they aren't.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad to see that this days we still can see racism againts Afro-Colombians. People always say that we are a multicultural country and we accept and embrace our ethnicities, but this is only words without actions. We believe that say and repeat that phrase is what only matter, and the thuth is that is time to a change, it is time to make effective policies who change this situation.
ReplyDeleteI cannot agree with you more with "People always say that we are a multicultural country and we accept and embrace our ethnicities, but this is only words without actions." Colombia is a country that shows only appearances. A country ruled by "characters" who are only interested in themselves and a society does not care and value these cultural heritages.
DeleteI personally believe that Afrocolombians suffer from constant discrimination and that way of racism shouldn't be allowed to exist. This stuff happens because people doesn't accept ethnic and skin differences even when we live in a country that has a lot of miscegenation. We don't teach kids to not be racist and that's the main reason of racism in Colombia and all the world.
ReplyDeleteRacism is a sensitive topic nowadays, especially if we take a count the last events taking place in USA. We think that Colombia isn't racist because we live in diversity, but racism is a delicate topic in Colombia as well. I personally believe that discrimination in general takes place in the country, discrimination towards black people, towards indigenous, towards LGTB's community, etc., Colombia is a conservative country in a lot of aspects, especially in racism towards black people and discrimination towards LGTB's community.
ReplyDeleteThis is a public topic, Colombia's government should support these communities educating the country to be more inclusive, and then the minorities will be less oppressed, a community that has been opressed all the time, so that is the reason why Colombia should make a effort to preserve the traditions of these comunity and stop the discrimination towards any minority.
the racism in Colombia nowadays have a relevance in our society , because people don’t care about that , the solution for this problematic situation is do the change that you want to see in the world , don’t follow stupid stereotypes, don’t copy other cultures , actually the most important situation about racism is the absence of apperceive our real culture. This stuff happens because we don't teach kids to accept the racist that a discrimination for our own culture and that's actually the reason of racism.
ReplyDeleteToday we live in a world that evolves very quickly and every day is accepting people for what they are, and there is a retrograde thinking that reject others because they are different or their skin color and race. Many people take pride in having good education and social consciousness but still difficult to accept that intelligence and being a good person can be in anyone , without seeing color
ReplyDeleteI consider that all the issues that have a close relationship with racism, are product of a culture based on astract constructions we have been building up since many centuries ago, and even nowadays, we expose that abstract constructions and give them meaning throght our own thoughts, behaviours, etc, that we make everyday in relation with afrocolombians or black people. Social concepts are very complex to understand and discuss, and that's why is so difficult for a lot of people following racism to change their minds and look up thing from other points of view. ReplyDeleteAfro-colombian people are attacked by whole society because of their color skin. It is not logical, because we are consider as a multiethnic and multicultural conuntry but sometimes those people do not receive the best attention. Today, we have to be concious that everybody is different but we are valious becasuse of we are human being.
ReplyDeleteAfro-Colombians are a subculture that suffer a lot of problems such as poverty, racism, unemployment. It occurs because they are a minority that does not have voice in this country. They are judged by their color skin. For this reason, they receive less oportunities than other Colombian.
